You're exactly right. Kendrick should stay out of the situation. As a native of Princeton, I know his reputation. Money doesn't buy everything....especially in this case.

CONGRATS to Coach Stewart and those AMAZING MOUNTAINEERS! You're in our hearts FOREVER!!

Here's a great article from a Connecticut newspaper about WVU and what's happened over the past few weeks.

Promotion Shows West Virginia's Heart -- Courant.com

Quote:
Stewart is a football lifer, 33 years and everywhere from high school to Canada and back again. He needed all 33 years' perspective to put the state of West Virginia back together again in less than three weeks. He didn't do it as Rich Rodriguez or Nick Saban or some other control freak. He did it as a national nobody, a local somebody. He did it by encouragement. He did it with a heart 10 times bigger than his ego. He says things like "Cub and Boy Scout's honor" when he wants to emphasize the truth.

Don Nehlen, the former Mountaineer coach who brought Stewart to WVU in 2000, said Stewart doesn't berate the players and doesn't embarrass anybody in public.

Can you imagine that? The concept that you don't need to be a tyrant to win at the highest level? Tony Dungy taught us that last year and, still, you wonder if there are enough qualified good guys to make the concept stick. The players rallied around Stewart. He coached the socks off another too-tight martinet named Bob Stoops and afterward he hugged more people than the all the candidates at the Iowa caucuses combined. The players looked into the TV cameras, told America that Stewart should be their coach and gave him his first Gatorade shower. The closest he'd ever come before was a dunk tank when he was an assistant high school coach 30 years ago.

Default Bill Stewart

I'm glad to have Mr. Bill Stewart as our new head coach, I hope everyone treats him and his players with the utmost respect. The man saved an entire football team from heartbreak and humiliation.

That being said, do any of you think that coach Stewart will try anything tricky this upcoming season? He's got two stellar quarterbacks now...could there be a WVU QB dynasty like the Steeler's Slash and Heinz Ward back when Heinz was first drafted?

This could be interesting...
