WVU is too good of a team to be in the big east. I think its an embarrsement to be in the big east at least since they tore it up. I know many others that feel the same way. There are also many thinking the same thing but won't admit it. I agree the big east is getting better but i would rather be with the ACC or SEC. In the Big EAst we(WVU) are considered to be one of the top two if not the top one every year. While that sounds good it hurst us overall because the rest of the teams are not that strong. Just look at strenght of schedule of the teams in Big East compared to say the ACC or SEC. In last nights game between COnn & louSville, the announcers stated the same thing except they added that Conn highest ranked offense they played so far was temple, ranked 90th. If we were in Acc we would be just another team but they are all solid(except duke) and they have greatood parity, anyone can eat anyone on any given day. They all also have tough schedules. We have played Maryland something like 46 years and lead the series 23-21-2. WE had won the last four to take the lead while they had won the previous four including the Gator Bowl win. My point is we are very similar to them over time and to many of the teams in the acc. I love WVU football and just want to see them in the best light possible. It ticks me off being dis-respected because we are in the big east.

If you look back at the big east during the tail end of Nehlen's coaching career the big east seemed tougher than it is now. That's probably because we had teams that were closer to us such as the terps, which made rivalries seem more heated. I sense very little rivalry between Connecticut and us although I think it will be a very demanding game for the players. What I have been noticing is teams popping up from other conferences to take on a run at the national title, some early, fizzling out like South Florida, and others like Oregon coming out of the woodwork, so it really is true when you say that anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Look at the successes of Boston College and Maryland this season- they were once big east contenders.

Maybe WVU is just used to putting on a clinic.
