Default Another Michigan Player Defects

Quarterback Ryan Mallett enrolled in classes at Arkansas on Wednesday, athletics department spokesman Kevin Trainor confirmed.

Mallett, one of the country's top quarterback prospects after his senior season at Texarkana High School in Texas, will have to sit out the 2008 season under NCAA transfer rules. He will then have three years of eligiblity remaining.

Mallett played in 11 games as a freshman for Michigan last season, filling in for oft-injured senior Chad Henne. Mallett completed 61 of 141 passes for 892 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. He is a tall pocket passer with a very strong arm and is well-suited for Petrino's pro-style offense.

Mallett, who also considered transferring to Tennessee and UCLA, threw for more than 2,500 yards and 27 touchdowns as high school senior and was named the Texas Class 4A offensive player of the year.

I love these stories. I hope the whole team leaves.
