NYC will always have a character of its own. What Allen presents here is now something that exists only in memory. Something we can file away in our hearts and minds of a previous chapter in NYC history. It is romanticized yet shows a gritty element and in that shows beauty. NYC nowwa days is too squeaky clean and there is something in the air of a new breed that I cannot put my finger on it. Yet I believe the irony is I will look back 30 years from now and have a romantic idea that was NYC

No, Manhattan is not better, they are both masterpieces in their own right. Don't watch Allen's films from the last 10 years. Watch Manhattan, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Hannah and her Sisters, Bullets over Broadway, these ones are the best. To my opinion. Melinda and Scoop are nothing in his career. Forget you saw them, and watch himat his best.
Oh, of course, Love and Death, and then Deconstructing Harry, then Broadway Danny Rose!!!
Sorry, got excited. He is my favorite.
