Drafted for Vietnam, risks to walk into street riots. Pardon me, it was far less fun those days than depicted in the media with a rosy backwards look today. The bunch of people at Woodstock was huge, but in every day life hippies were a minority. They were regularly beaten up by blue collar guys. One of the most renowned hippie points: Amsterdam Dam square was cleansed once by Marines. The common denounciation in the mainstream press of hippies was: "long haired, work avoiding thugs".
