I love american locomotives! A curiosity: (excuse me for bad english comparatives!) these locos are bigger and more powerful then diesel italian loco. What is the weight of a similar locomotive?

We get enough complaints over here regarding whistles now, they'd go through the roof if we started blowing them that much! Our company has recently introduced one long, one short (at distance and approaching respectively), but it's all just arse covering. Ultimately the responsibility at crossings lies with the motorist, most accidents in rural areas are actually locals who become complacent.
