You are probably right. I`ve often wondered if the families that come on suing each other were just doing it for a profit since they really don`t have to pay. But someone that was on a JJ said he had filed a suit with the court and it was JJ`s show that found his case and asked him to come on her show so I don`t know if all the shows are recruited through actual court files or if people can submit their own cases to the show. If the latter is true, I think a lots of cases are false.

Yes. According to his story, he paid a total of $4,950.00 for a room he wasn't using at all, while also paying rent somewhere else. I find that arrangement to be completely bizarre! I also find it bizarre that the two of them said that they still wanted to be friends, even though one of them was, or both were, clearly lying.
Something fishy is going on with this case. They were probably together, scamming the show, actually.

From what I understand he paid $550 to reserve the room incase he wanted to move back in. Now that I think of it, I think that guy is nice but financially a moron!

You got that right! This was a great episode, complete with a "Does it look like you're losing? Then SHUT UP!" and Byrd leading the plaintiff back to his station when he tried to hand the papers directly to JJ. Classic stuff!
What a weird arrangement, too! Who the hell pays $550 a month rent for nine months while living and paying rent elsewhere as well? It makes no sense to me at all! That's a whole lot of money to pay for nothing!
Did I miss some kind of explanation in the episode? |
