Honestly Bands sell out the minute they start to sign papers to produce anything with companies;the whole 'sell out' thing is hard to understand. To put it simply you sell out when you turn into what the comany wants you to be I.E Green day, they used to dress completely diffrent they sang compeletly diffrent so to make the record label happy they started wearing make up and went main stream punk, witch is completly stupid. These guys stayed true to how they started a punk band with a dream hah

Can a band really 'sell out' though? They change their sound and more people like it. They become popular and more people buy into their music. They make more money. Shouldn't everyone be proud that a band they like is getting the credit they deserve? Or are you just pissed off because you can no longer say that bands name, having no one around that's heard of them, and enjoy having more knowledge? Isn't Anti-Flag's 'thing' to spread word of their beliefs?

sell-out= somone who changes sound and message to seem more popular and make more money opertunist= someone who might very their sound but keep the same message and spread their opinion on issues to a larger group and raise awareness. one hit wonder= someone who never changes anything and keeps the same message and just becomes more ambient noise. thats how I look at it. but those are just my opinions. I maybe wrong, frankly I dont care.

How do you know if they changed their sound just to make money!?!?Maybe they like their new sound more and aren't doing it for the money.... You should really think about what you say before posting on a place where thousands of people will read it.... please.

To change your sound to make more money is the deffinition of sell out. They make me sick.

HAhaha, when I first read your comment i thought you were serious! Obviously bands aren't "sell outs" just because they change there sound, and improve it! Haha, good one dude.

They changed the way their music sounded like in order to become more popular and make more money. Definition of sell out

It's interesting people accusing bands of being "sell outs" after seeing the movie Punks not dead. In reality they want as many people to listen to their music and that usually means they'd benefit by signing with a company not because they're just doing it for the money. I suppose if you're the only person in the world who knows about one band and not let anyone else know about it then that makes you so cool.

Who did Green Day "sell out" to?
