I only just discovered this very talented man through an english guy - ironic isn't it? I am very saddened to read that he took his own life nd in such a public and dramatic way for reasons that do not seem to be documented online. It left me distraught. What a waste! Everytime I listen to him, I'm just sad but I'll keep listening... Rest in Peace o talented one!

For those of you who don't know about Weldon or his deep spiritual roots, his Hampton Institute grounding in the soul of the spiritual or his love for R. Nathaniel Dett and the musical heritage of Noah Ryder, this piece, represents a true picture of how complex this brother was. He was passionate about the music of Black people. He learned from all of the piano masters, as well as lesser-known greats like "Virginia" Joe Jones and Consuela Lee Morehead. He came in at "beautiful brother!" |
