Only if you like eat or breath or getting injected with it or something. Being by it won't do much harm. Pencils used to have lead but because of how dangerous it is, pencils now use graphite.

Actually, No.
The "Duck and cover" campaign was an attempt to keep the public calm, and let them think there was some way to potentially survive if a nuke went off nearby. (and, theoretically, it COULD improve your survival chances if it was 10 or more miles away, by a whopping 0.5% or so, at least against flying debris.)
