1st Dan in Shotokan and you make a comment like that? Perhaps you should do a little research into Sensei Yahara and some of the old school JKA instructors. If you aren't aware of their legacy and contributions to Shotokan, then I wonder which "McDojo" gave you your Shodan...

Sifu Yang Ming would rip these guys apart. Of course, Master Funakoshi would rip Sifu Yang Ming Apart; from what little Kata footage I saw of Funakoshi, he wasn't "sharp" or "ferocious," but damn it was well near flawless. Smooth and perfect. Being a wuss sucks; not strong enough to do a Kata 1,000 times in a day like you're supposed to.....
