But in reality, new information is now coming out of the Soviet archives which is contradicting this previous belief. People are not starting to see that it was probably the initial Russian strategy to sacrifice land for time. It's true, up to that point their ineptness at offensive war had been shown (minus their victories against Japan in the East), but Hitler's the invader now, and it's been shown that military groups of Soviets were meant to get surrounded, delay the advance, and get away.

But then it's another contradiction no? If you're some grunt working in a heavy industry plant in Soviet Russia, you're told you're part of something great, but then just conscripted and die on some German bayonet, while the Communist elite are living large. Same with the fascists. If you're part of their ideal person, you're doing better. But either way, you're not free, and serve the state. The Nazis weren't some rugged individual movement, they were a breed of socialists themselves.
