Not politics-the 'bandito' was irresistable at the time- ".. and here he still is..! But as I sai,d there's no loony Tunes duck sent after him..but this is a BANDIDO..GRANGO DUck...(advance apologies to the gringos, which I am..) there fore AFFY you DO have aq RIGHT TO CATCH HIM, and HOPE FYOU WIN,m and watch out for that Speedy. Just, don't misjudge Speedy or Bandito unless they steal anything, Daffy LOL

Either way, you wouldn't see Daffy Duck being sent after the Bandito. That pairing with Speedy was detestable, no matter who was in volved with what! (eye theeeeenk....)

This was the voice of GONZALO GONZALO who did voice over for the Warner Bros/7 Arts Speedy Gonzalez/Daffy Duck cartoons in the mid 1960'S. Mel Blanc replaced Gonzalo Gonzalo in later Fritos commercials

Why make excuses? It's because stereotypes were accepted as funny back then. Had nothing to do with interest in western history.

you can't cus he's "politically incorrect" XD but if you can get rid of the protesters bring him back then XD

You gotta remember that in the 1960s Americans were still interested in western history and western stories. The resulting composites were many- and included "the bandit"- modeled after people like Tiburcio Vasquez. Vasquez was a real-life bandit that caused all kinds of havoc. Thankfully, fritos were banned in our house after this commercial went off the air. Not politics-the 'bandito' was irresistable at the time- parents just couldn't fight it! Later Frito ads didn't catch our interest.

dunno if I would call this racist or not (I am Mexican_American) but I do know Fritos corn chips were invented in San Antonio Texas by Mexicans who didn't know how popular their product was and were basically swindelled out of the fortune they were due

bitchashitty (July 7, 2008 at 2:09 am)
