A Choral Menagerie

An original composition for a cappella SATB choir by Ian Maurer of Brisbane, Australia. Not all choral music is serious. "A Choral Menagerie" pokes a little fun at each section of the SATB choir. Loud and amorous basses, air-head sopranos, conceited tenors and altos with delusions of grandeur. Like all good fairytales, "A Choral Menagerie" ends happily ever after and contains a moral - that the most unlikely collections of people can produce beautiful music together. Brisbane Concert Choir, conductor Debra Shearer-Dirié, 16 September 2007. Copyright Ian Maurer 2004. Used with permission. Visit http://www.ianmaurer.net/MyMus... for links to sheet music and other performances of the piece. If you are searching for other choral, instrumental, orchestral and vocal sheet music, try my other site http://www.sheetmusictips.com where you can quickly find and buy what you are looking for. Our choir has been invited to sing at Advent Festivals in Prague and Vienna in November/December 2008. Australia is a long way from Europe, so some of our student members need some help to get there. We're doing lots of fundraising, but if you would like to donate a little or a lot, please go to: http://www.brisbaneconcertchoi...

You have a typical song SATB by Rapahael PASSAQUET, in french (alas ?) : "La Troupe". May be can you find a recorder on the Net... you're a very pleasant choir. Sorry for my englis, my teachers were not so very good (lol). I'm 62, it's not too bad ???

Thanks for your interest in the piece. You might like to send your choir director an email link to this performance. Or contact me via my website listed in "About this video". Cheers.

I'm a bass II, on O Magnum as well... I'd like to see our choir do something like this...

Good to hear from a fellow "Bass 2". Has Femmes de Chanson recorded a CD? I have hopes that my Choral Menagerie might be picked up by a publisher in USA some time soon so that it can get out to a wider choral audience.

I saw your comment on the "O Magnum Mysterium" video that we (Femmes de Chanson) put up a month ago. Thanks so much for your comments! I sing "Bass 2" in that piece also, hahaha. This a great and really fun composition!! And what a great choir!!

Yes. The title of the song is "A Choral Menagerie". You can find out more about it and hear a clearer recording by a very good high school choir from Georgia, USA. Just click on "more" in the info box and follow my link.

There will be a variety of music, old and new. We have a few others on YouTube - search for Brisbane Concert Choir and you should find four other pieces which might make it onto the CD. These are all "old" - that is, out of copyright so we don't have any legal hassles here at YouTube.
