iughew, I would not trust anything written by Naomi Klein. She is a die-hard, agenda driven socialist, and I've noticed that socialists like her stop at nothing to convince the world of their vision.
They lie about free-market advocates in an attempt to slander their character, so people won't respect their views. They'll twist the truth and omit details if it suits their agenda.
Friedman never supported Pinochet's horrible acts. Why would he??? He simply gave him advice early on.

BRYAN351 I read every book from Friedman Agreed and disagreed with some. I think he is a great economist and intellectual. But I have also read Naomi Klein and discovered Friedman fully supported Pinochet a horrible dictator and personally witnessed mass murders. Marx never actually supported a dictator and it is not his fault in any way what Stalin did. I don't want to insult Friedman But I invite to reflect on the border line between theory and practice and the way the practice is enforced.

iughew, give me a fucking break. Friedman, or his ideas, aren't responsible for any murders, anywhere. That's even dumber than if you blamed Karl Marx for the mass murder committed by Stalin.
However, at least Marx's writings encouraged a certain amount of tyranny. NOTHING Friedman ever wrote or said encouraged tyranny or mass murder. Quite the contrary, actually.
If you're a collectivist and hate free market capitalism, fine, denounce it, but don't lie about Friedman.

milton friedman is an intellectual that with his ideas supported and encouraged mass murder in chile argentina and other south american countries. His brilliancy is not arguable but his determination in testing his theories has made him a criminal, and he should be remembered as one.
