Dominique de Villepin could very well become President of France in the future, I respect the man despite his less-than-respectful attitude toward Colin Powell during the tumultuous Franco-US relations in 2003. French anti-American sentiments are based upon several elements that have nothing to do with Iraq, based on capitalist-socialist tensions, based also on some sense that French exceptionalism is overshadowed by the American superpower. Ultimately America acts while Europe talks.
