Considering Romania has only existed as a country since 1878 - and that Transylvania only became part of that structure in 1918 (forgetting a few major border changes in WW2) I think it is you, Roxane, who needs to go back to school.

So in the Carpathian basin this is not a very simple question as you can see. There was a lot of ethnical-cultural migrations, changed countries, etc. And in the middle of the whole situation: there are the gypsies and many more small ethnical groups. So I can say: this is the gypsy version of the reel and this is the only. But the gypsies gave and got many cultural influences from and to the other folks: romanians and hungarians...

And Matthias (Mátyás) hungarian king from the 15th century (1458-1490) is in fact was a romanian because he born in Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár)? And vampires lived in the transsylvanian castles? Don't eat up everything what the romanian education propagate! And if you mind we can discuss about History (this is my major and my profession)... Romania didn't exists till 1862 - union of two roman principalities (Moldova and Tara Romaneasca)
