Works of Wonder: Medical Procedures and Options
Works of Wonder is a four-part modular program with sections that may be shown individually, in pairs and in any order. It offers all the flexibility educators need when teaching about labor and childbirth and includes a comprehensive educators study guide.
Part Three: Medical Procedures and Options in Childbirth describes in detail common medical practices and options for medication in childbirth. Short, live video segments describe the risks and benefits of fetal monitoring, IV fluids, induction and augmentation, narcotic analgesia, epidural anesthesia, interventions to relieve back labor pain and more.
Part Four: A Cesarean Birth Story presents a realistic picture of an unplanned Cesarean birth. Terri and Ryans birth story begins with a clear attempt to deliver vaginally and shows the discussion among midwife, obstetrician and mother leading to the decision to do a Cesarean. Expectant parents will learn about: anesthesia for surgery, OR staff, abdominal and uterine incisions (in animation), fathers role, suggestions for recovery and breastfeeding in the recovery room.
