I had a busted EGR valve on my truck for years and it passed fine. actually the only time I failed a test was because my PVC hose was disconnected.

i have a 88 mazda mx-6 that failed smog because the EGR valve was clogged. Passed once it was cleaned. Stupid smog checks!!

I'm not sure how it will effect your fuel economy. But I do know that the EGR valve plays a key role in reducing emissions. A malfunctioning EGR valve might result in more NOx emissions. You can look at the wiki page on EGR valves and probably find more details. |
