That may be true, but where does it end? If we socialize healthcare the liberals will push for socialized everything because thats "fair". The reason I mentioned the food shortage is not to take your mind off of the healthcare issue, but to show that communism doesn't work.

Dude I know how this shit works, the free-market system, come fascist system, ie government and corporations in unison along with cult-like brainwashing through the TV. They sink the universal healthcare so as to push people into private healthcare and health insurance. Damn, I'll agree that Stalin and Lenin communism were just as bad. But Cuba provides top quality universal health care. Despite embargo.

to divinacomedias: Who is making wild and generalizing allegations? It's historically proven time and time again that socialism/communism are failed systems. Crack a history book. Cuba is a tiny island (11 million people) and the government in place cannot even efficiently procure food for its citizens. Sure, their unemployment is low...but when you realize the standard of living you will understand that this country is borderline humanitarian disaster.

What next? Government-run food, government run-water, o yes, are we not obligated for this kind of stuff? Just this about how mad this is. We shouldn't give away these private things to the government, the government is corrupt as it is, i mean they can't even manage education. The founding fathers would agree with me on this. WAKE UP.

Let me put it THIS way: would you rather have a bureacrat with access to a large, dedicated, publicly accessible pool of funding standing between you and a doctor, or an HMO Administrator who has to think about their company's bottom line and profitability before signing off on your next operation standing there instead (like it is now)?
