Guys, what we need is a rock solid solution to the climate problem, not day-dreaming into renewable energy, we need energy fast, cheap, clean and steady. Which gives us two outcomes: Hydro or Nuclear, everthing else is either too dirty or too expensive. Have somebody even bothered to calculate how much it costs to fill up the Nevada desert with solar panels?

That's 100% true. I am majoring in engineering right now and looking into the nuclear field, and I quickly found out how many people that oppose nuclear power know very little, if anything about it.
They just hear the word "nuclear" and think of bombs and Hiroshima and stuff like thatand then equate it to bad, which is ignorant.
I rarely talk to or read about someone who opposes nuclear power that actually knows much about it. Some do, but the majority do not.

CRAP i'm debating this topic on saturday but my partner forced me into debating against nuclear energy so now i have to write the opening statement when there are sooo many things pointing against it :[ plus I dont even agree with the con side.

Nuclear is A LOT cleaner then oil. Reprocessing spent fuel like the French; (and yeah I don't like them) but what the have works and the reprocessed fuel come out with a higher yield from that of which it when in. Granted I'm not sure if you can indefinitely reprocess fuel. Anyone know?

The technology isn't there for solar/wind. Nuclear IS clean and new plants are being considered now. They make a lot of money and create many high paying careers. They have minimal enviro impact. Yucca mount needs to open to store the used fuel in 1 remote location. Coal plants are destroying the air. They should be replaced.
