If you want to the magnificient Rockies in the dark...travel VIA rail. If you want to actually SEE them...travel on the Rocky Mountaineer.

Old cars and locomotives! Give the tourist the first impression! I'd like to see Dash 9 and modern cars for these prizes!

I think we agree with aliciawaters below: both VIA and Rocky are exceptional, but each serves a different function. It may be that Rocky is very expensive, but it's not an every day event, whereas VIA may well be. Thanks to getchasumm and aliciawaters for writing in yvp

Train travel should not only be for the uber-rich. Lets all continue to support Canada's national passenger rail system, VIA Rail Canada !!!

Yes VIA is average for the average traveller. If you want that extra experience then travel with Rocky. I have taken both trains and the service was not nearly comparable. Thanks though but my dollar and word of mouth will always stick with that tour.

And again, with no misspellings I hope, I have passed this comment on too. These are all important observations and need to be shared with the company...a value of these kinds of community, video-based exchanges. Thanks

Here too I have passed your comment on to the pr and marketing people. I'm sure they'll be very pleased. TVP
