pretty funny when colorados only national title is with a loss a tie a win on 5th down and a win on a clipping penalty... they really deserved #1 right? all i can do is laugh

Don't forget this at that time OU was bad due to Switzer leaving 2 years earlier, OSU went bad the day Barry Sanders left, Iowa State Kansas and Kansas State, and Missouri were jokes before they got good in the late 90's. The two good teams were CU and of course Nebraska.Now lets look at the ACC, Virginia was bowl eligible, Clemson with Danny Ford ruled the ACC in the 80's,Duke yes Duke made it to a bowl two years earlier,FLORDIA STATE, North Carolina with Mack Brown.The ACC was just better.

I'm sorry who lost a game that season and barely won against Notre Dame because of a clipping penalty, aaahh CU. Who didn't lose a game, had one tie, and destroyed Nebraska and didn't have to have a penalty to win their bowl game, Georgia Tech. The Big 8 that time was a joke except for Nebraska and CU. At least the ACC had some good competition Georgia Tech had to play but still without those lucky breaks like the 5th down and the Notre Dame clipping penalty, CU wouldn't even compare to GT.
