Cont'd...I am one of of those people that loved Michaels voice the first time I heard it! Some people just take a while to give Michaels voice a chance. Your so right about it being addicting though! It should come with a warning. LOLs. God Bless.

Michael was the Phantom well before Butler ever played him on the screen. Plus Webber did not always want a rock and roll voice because Webber was the one who heard Michael singing at a voice lesson and dumped Harley who was a big rock and roll star in the U.K. It was Schumacher who convinced Webber to dump Michael, who had been promised the chance to reprise his award winning stage role on film for years, in favor of someone else. Plus a lot of people don't hate MCs voice at first "Totoro523".

On IMDb it says that Gerard had the "rock and roll" voice that Andrew Lloyd Webber always wanted to play the Phantom.

Wow I am not used to a higher pitched tenor like Micheal Crawford. I am used to Greey Butler. Suprisingly I am likeing it very much!

thats what happened to me too. at first i thought the 2004 movie version was much better, but now i dont. michael crawfords like coffee. first you hate it, but after a while its addicting. its also interesting to know gerald butler was king leonidas in 300...
