The Shenandoah is a river that runs through the Shendandoah valley. The song was done for a story in picture of a soilder singing it during the civil war because he longed to see his home in the valley.

It's about the Shenandoah River, which is a tributary of the Potomac. The Shenandoah river is one of the rare North American rivers that flows to the north. It is in West Virgina and Virginia, although mostly in Virginia.

They are available through Amazon. Most larger record stores should be able to order them for you. Ask at your record store and they may get some in. She is not well-known in the US but sells steadily there.
