I agree 110%. If you are going to cover something, at least try and make it your own. I like MDB and love Portishead, and kudos for the cover, would have liked it to have more identity though.

Because if your a fan of this band then you would want check out a cover song they did and if you like it then you will listen to it and the original

very conservative cover. when a cover is this similar I see no point in not just listening to the original.

I like this cover but still original ist better. I don't know of any cover which surpasses its original.
