I agree, surely facebook already provides such a service to an appropriate degree i.e. there's only so much detail 99% of people *want* to share with friends etc. I think twitter needs to develop this proposition to the next level and develop genuine usp before it will take off.

This is a cool animation and presentation, yet it begs the question, is twitter basically what AIM away messages are for? Same goes for facebook status updates...
