Traditional Latin Mass: Feast of the Sacred Heart

Traditional Latin Mass filmed on the Feast of the Sacred Heart in the small chapel of the International Seminary of Saint Cure d'Ars, Flavigny, France, in 1999. The seminary is the Society of Saint Pius X's second European seminary. Typically seminarians spend their first year of spiritually there before leaving for Ecône, Switzerland, to complete their training. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass with Gregorian chant and polyphonic motets. Some local customs take place during the Mass. For example, birettas are not worn and the Domini Non Sum Dignus is recited aloud by all present. More astute listeners might also notice the French pronunciation, which is perhaps not the ideal. This film has been available on the Internet for quite some time encoded in a very low quality format. I have encoded the video here from an original source at the highest quality possible given the size restrictions at Youtube. Unfortunately this has resulted in a slightly blurred picture and mono sound rather than stereo. Apart from the addition of captions, the film remains unchanged.

Men were given the privilege of the priesthood by Christ himself. The Church does not have the authority to change this. I think you're confused. There's not simply a 'rule' that a man has to 'be present'. A priest is the one who offers the Sacrifice of the Mass in the person of Christ- he is essential to it - it's impossible to have a Mass without a priest.

So there must always be a man present at a catholic mass however the same rule does not apply for men. How unfortunate that the men are given special privledge and their is such bias for women. Hopefully the holy spirit will that change in the future . Peace

Not dream, God is calling us, we have a duty to fulfil as members of the body of the Catholic Church, which is almost in hiding right now. There are scattered parishes, but the drive is worth, look for SSPX or FSSP locations so you can participate and rescue this beautiful rite, we are still on time, there are almost a million Catholics worldwide going exclusively to this rite. CHRISTI VINCIT!!

There are Masses at convents, for instance, where nuns would be the only congregants. However, since it isn't possible for a woman to become a priest, there would have to be at least one man there, confecting the sacrifice.

I agree. Sorry if I was unclear, but I was asking gogogirlsrock9 what she was trying to prove by that verse from St. Matthew's Gospel

I was born and raised a Catholic.....I enjoy watching and listening to this mass as often as I can.....thanks for giving devote Christians a place to enjoy the mass the way I remember it, with reverence and peaceful sounds to help us to contemplate on our faith...

That the new mass made during the 60' do not give the true sens of the religion so it is heterodox. Therefore, it it is not pleasing to Our Lord.
Catholicsmoker (August 28, 2008 at 6:04 am)
What exactly are you trying to prove here?
spitzer72 (August 27, 2008 at 7:02 pm)
dmpav, that is absolutly true. That is why I never said the "latin" rite. I said THE rite. Because all these rites are identical in most ways. The differs by the language but not really in others thing exept some prayers, chants, and the mouvements. They this the true sens, as the Latin rite. But the new mass, created in some months do not give the true sens.
