I'm a saxophone player, but I did some research. Actually harp guitars have been around longer than 1920. It is documented that "true" harp guitars by that name were commonly noted by the 1900s. The earliest reference I have yet found is in the 1891 Hansen patent, who in his text labels his instrument a "harp-guitar." Therefore, it likely preceeds the 1891 date. What a great instrument to enjoy hearing when played by a great artist such as Andy McKee.

lol its not a mutated guitar....its called a harp guitar. It was first used in like the 1920's i think
