// BOYCOTT THE FORUMS APRIL 3RD Members of the Nintendo.com community, It is clear that most of you yearn for the return of the NSider forums. This, however, will most likely not occur, due to Nintendo's new casual approach to gaming. You have without a doubt seen the substantial changes made to the Nintendo.com website. No longer will you see in a game's page screenshots and artwork, instead you'll be greeted by pretentious stock photo models pretending to play a game. Shouldn't the growing use of people in the website signify a warm, more welcoming community? It certainly seems so, but Nintendo is no longer the company it used to be. It has become one corporation more. The new casual approach has eradicated the Nintendo community and with it the good rapport with the fans. The new Nintendo Tech Support Forums are not a community, they are Nintendo taking advantage of you, the loyal fans. The people in charge of these forums knew very well they had a large number of loyal fans prior to closing NSider, who would surely return once another Nintendo forum appeared, this being the Tech Support Forums. What would this large number of fans do for them? Tech Support, obviously. Nintendo no longer needs to hire a significant amount of people for support, for this is done for free by the fans. You might argue that you do this out of altruism, that you get something out of it. This is the argument that should be used for people offering their support in non-profit projects, such as open source software like Linux distributions, where the (generally) creators of the project cannot afford to hire support personnel. Nintendo, on the other hand, has seen tremendous financial growth and they can easily afford to hire tech support staff. You are nothing more than a means to cut costs and increase profits. It is true though that in NSider, tech support of all kinds was also given. But NSider was a community. I invite you to remember what a great community NSider was, with chats with Nintendo staff such as Reggie, the ability to get your game reviews published in Nintendo Power and close contact with the administrators and moderators. Your voices were heard back then. Not anymore. Boycott the Tech Support Forums. Take your community back. Propagate this throughout the Tech Support Forums, tell your friends. Boycott these forums on April 3, 2008. Do not visit the forums.

You make a few good points, but overall- Nobody goes to the Tech Fourms. A few may occasionally help out, but the place is FAR from a full replacement of Ninetndo's Tech Support service. They created the fourm to dodge lawsuits - Nintendo game booklets still advertised "fourms" long after NSider's closing.
