Thurman Munson was a true grit dude, a good representative of the Yankees if ever there was one.

Thurman was my favorite player at a time when they were what I considered to be, "the Yankees that I knew". I was a catcher and wore #15 all the way up through organized ball- Little League, Babe Ruth, Highschool, American Legion. I also wore my Yankee ballcap under my catcher's helmet all the way up through those years - I even wore it the day that I, after having been inspired by his play, made it to my minor league tryout. Thanks, Thurman. We'll never forget out Captain and catcher. |
