JP II was not Paul's successor, it was JP I. Don't get me wrong. He tried and gave his all. I think he did more good then people give him credit for. He tried to bring the Church into the moderen world. Not easy to do with a Church that is 2,000 years old. I can't wait for him, JP I, and JP II to be cannonized.

You are one of the very few people who think that he was a bigger pope as JPII. First of all, Montini had no charisma. Second he always doubted and hesitated to act. He was a weak conductor of the VII council. You can have a great orchestra, but with an incompetent conductor the music sounds false! And the last years of his pontificate he did nothing much for the Church! But he was a very honest man who suffered because of his indeed difficult task!

Decent priest. Honest and Holy man. But unfortunately not a very strong pope. Probably there were more capable cardinals for the papacy, but he was Pope John XXIII favorite! The last years of his papacy ment total stagnation for the Church. Forgotten by many people. Mainly because of his much more appealing succesor JPII.

Paulo VI no es un Papa olvidado... es uno de los más grandes personajes del siglo XX y es el "reformador" de la iglesia como la conocemos hoy, el que la introdujo a la modernidad. Es uno de los más grandes pontífices de la historia.
