Nobeester: DITTO re ur comment,"others can...sing well, but Edith Piaf sang it best."

giaalf: While Isabelle Boulay's rendition is beautiful - there is *none* to compare w/ Edith Piaf's version! I think it's Piaf's rather tragic life amazing voice so similar to another's great voice tragic life -Judy Garland- that makes Piaf the supreme chanteuse/female singer of this song! Piaf sang from her soul heartache! Don't think Boulay has met life's heartaches enuf, yet, to give this song what Piaf does!

1q1r1: So agree with u that *none* can ever compare to Edith Piaf her original version.
Piaf's tragic life loves so totally resonated in her one-of-a-kind voice - hauntingly beautiful interpretation of -not only this song - but *every* song that came from her heart soul

Of course, you can never win a competion for singing a song so well known by any singer. It's the same with Shirley Bassey's "A House is not a Home" or Antonietta Stella's "O Mio Babbino Caro".
Respect.
