well, i've just found out that the BMW V12 LMR also competed. But you're right, the Audi R10 has formidable opponents, and if it won, it was thanks to Kristensen, because when he left, Bentley won. Good car though, but of course it is not a lot better than the 908, pescarolo.

JL897139:> Sorry, BMW didn't compete in LMP1 I searched for this BMW McLaren car although I didn't notice its class. Still though, it was in service some years ago so just because of that it could not compete with the Audi's current LeMans racer.

Sorry, BMW didn't compete in LMP1

Haha, but we're talking about motorsport, right? BMW McLaren F1 GTR? Didn't it compete in Le Mans. Sauber Mercedes also competed in Le Mans. They competed in Le Mans! And Peugeot 90 whatever competed in the same time as Sauber Mercedes!. And obviously road going Audis are better than Peugeots, but it's not the same in a Le Mans race. There are lots of requirements... and rallying is racing!

JL897139: "Porsche, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz are in LeMans too and Corvette is not even the same category" Neither are BMW and MB, these manufacturers don't compete in LMP1 class, Audi didn't prove they can beat them >908 HDi FAP rocks Maybe but overall Peugeots are lower positioned than Audis which should prove its superiority (or the lack of it) agains key German brands WRC? OK but rallying is a different story than racing >je ne suis pas français Neither am I

Plus Peugeot has competed in the WRC for a looong time, and in LeMans it has done that for a while too... so they do have a LOT of experience in motorsport. BTW, je ne suis pas français!

BMW Sauber (Old sauber) Mclaren (rocks) Ferrari, too, but Peugeot standard cars might be "lousy", but the 908 HDi FAP rocks, and Pescarolo is a full-time LMP producer, plus Porsche, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz are in LeMans too and Corvette is not even the same category as the R10 TDI, it's GT1! So I think it'd be pretty impossible for corvette 2 compete w/chevy.
Downfall101 (August 12, 2008 at 2:15 am)
Peugeot may be french (not a good thing), but they sure as hell are not "Lousy"

In the world of Formula 1, BMW has to fight with McLaren Mercedes and the racing legend - Ferrari. I think these are quite big names in the business. In LeMans Audi won against whom? Ermm... Peugeot - French automaker of lousy cars with virtually no racing experience at all, Pescarolo Sport (team no one knows about) and ancient Corvette (any many other low-budget team that followed). I think if Audi decided to compete against Indian automaker Tata, they could collect even more wins!

If it is not Audi, It is worse than shit.
