hail, hail State Police.......... The Connecticut State Police graduated 73 new State Troopers, all members of the 117th Training Troop, on July 20, 2006. Department of Public Safety Commissioner Leonard C. Boyle and Colonel Edward Lynch, Commanding Officer of the State Police, congratulated the graduating class during a ceremony at Jorgensen Auditorium at the University of Connecticut. Gov. M. Jodi Rell was the keynote speaker at the event. The 117th training troop entered the Connecticut State Police Academy on January 20, 2006, and spent approximately 1,400 hours in the classroom. They also spent many more hours training in physical conditioning, water rescue, driving and other specialized areas of police work. The 73 members of this class began the process of becoming State Troopers more than a year ago. They applied for the positions, took the written test and physical fitness assessment, along with observational tests and polygraph tests.(ed. --CT Department of Public Safety Press Release)

As a medic in PA, I have worked alongside police from many jurisdictions. All of them are great, but I agree with you- the State Troopers in PA just seem to be a step above.

Also, mostly the main fuction of the GSP is to work traffic accidents. "Traffic" is pretty much a secondary for us. If you do something stupid enough though, we'll get you.

I don't know where you are from, but in Georgia, only a few Posts focus strictly on the uniform laws of the road. They have the jurisdiction to pull you over, no doubt. And you are right. Cities and counties do more. They write more bull-shit tickets also. In GA, if you get pulled over by a Trooper, you've did something bad... Think what you want, bud. That is why most county and city can't "pit" in 10-80's. So next time you get a failure to maintain lane ticket without DUI, I'll Laugh.

The Pennsylvania State Police are true professionals who do NOT murder innocent people and harass people day and night like New Jersey..WHY ??? The Police commanders and the State Attoeney General and the PEOPLE of Pennsylvania who sit on Grand Juries would never tolerate it. Police in Pennsylvania know they will rot in prison if they acted like Jersey cops.

The police in New Jersey do nothing but harass good citizens. I know from personal experience which I can prove today that NJ police frame people and entrapment is their specialty. They lie like the devil himself. They will set you up just to arrest you. I am white and over 50. They hate me because I tell the truth about them. Forget Osama Bin Ladn my fellow Americans- Your greatest enemy is New Jersey. This only happens because the State Attorney General in NJ allows it to happen.

The Pennsylvania State Police are the best . They are true professionals and gentleman. Then you have sttes like New Jersey where the police state and local are racist murderers. The state attorney general lets the police in NJ slaughter black people like cattle . I do not fear Osama Bin Ladn but I do fear Jersey police. I am pure white by the way and over 50.

Elite? LOL right Just because you're academy is 100wks or something doesn't mean you're elite. If main function is to deal with traffic, I can't put you over a city or County officer. Who does more? City and County does.

Uh, boston, we hate to tell you this--we really do--but your grammar, punctuation and syntax are barely high school level. It would be advisable for you to desist criticizing others when you barely can write coherently yourself. Pray tell us, what community "college" did you attend? ROFLMAO!

Agreed. Pennsylvania's is 27 weeks, last I heard. It is very difficult, and many drop out, or are dismissed for failures. I know a PA trooper who is a former Marine....and he tells me the PSP Academy was worse than Parris Island.
