Thanks for reminding me how much I loved this movie. I'm going to add it to my Netflix queue. Sissy Spacek totally deserved the Oscar. And Beverly D'Angelo should have been nominated and won for Best Supporting!

Sissy immersed herself in Loretta's life in order to pick up her mannerisms and speech patterns. They were around each other almost constantly for a year before filming. A job well done in my opinion.
