I don't know why so many Denver fans are taking such offense with this version.I'm a JD freak,& yes,I agree,it's not really in the spirit of the original.John's version IS infinitely superior. But.gosh,anything that introduces JD to a new audience(the 10 yr old next door has never heard of him.Sad to those of us old enough to remember when he was THE biggest pop star in the world.)is OK by me. The more people who see how John's songs still shine is a good thing.:-)
