Too bad. Murphy's and the Lyric Theater were the 'center of the universe' back then. Walk to town on Saturday, meet my best friend and go to a movie with lots of cruising (on foot) before and after. It was what we survived the week for... So homesick. :o(

I don't know if you know, but the old murphy's was torn down to make way for a new judicual annex building. I remember going there when I was little a couple times but I hung out there quite a bit in the late 90's when it was a christian coffee house.

I didn't know that. It is sad. Murphy's was very important to my teen years in the 60's. I remember buying warm mixed nuts at the nut counter. That was a major Saturday in town treat. No store does that anymore. Everything changes... not always for the better.
