Thats true but keep in mind that there was no three point line back then and large % of his shots was beyond that distance. Think what his average would have been then!!!

Pete was about showtime folks. Not about shooting percentage. I don't think anyone paid attention to that back then. It's a different ball game now.

Not at all. MJ's older brother Larry wore number 45 in high school which was also MJ's favorite number so MJ chose number 23 which was half of 45. It has nothing to do with Pistol.

MJ's jersey no. is 23 coz of PISTOL

Absolutely...you can throw Allen Iverson in there too with his career 42% shooting. While these guys did alot of good things you just can't shoot that % and be considered one of the all time greats. It clearly shows that they just jacked up more shots than anybody else and had very poor shot selection.

Im with you man. With all due respect to the legend what are we really celebrating? A volume shooter? I mean look at his percentages - 44% career shooter? So what if he has a 40+ ppg average in college? The guy shotjacked the entire time! Guys like Oscar or MJ were much more efficient, give them all the shot attempts Pete had and they blow his records out of the water. This is not a slam on Pete its just simple math. I just cant accept that this guy was the greatest shooter ever with those %'s.. |
