you're right. 40 years ago. the M16 A1 was full auto. the m16 A2 doesn't have full auto. only 3 round burst, it's been in service since the 1980's and is the most common of all M16 models. there is a full auto model (the A3) in service with the U.S Navy. the A4 is slowly replacing the A2, and that's not full auto either. so most M16s are in fact semi or 3RB only.

the M16 is an assault rifle. not a machinegun. and it only does 3 round burst, so you'd hold the trigger down, miss with all 3 shots and then get torn apart by said polar bear. and his friends.
