Somewhere, a long time ago I read an article in a magazine on the subject of professional Tennis written by Wallace. It was really good. He knew the subject well as he was a competitive player when he was a kid. I remember sharing the article with a friend. I am sorry at the passing of this young man.

Wow! Just incredible the pleasure he got from putting down Americans and what they love doing and enjoying life. (You see it in all his "post-modern" writing...be it baton twirling or going on a cruise). His writing obviously was his therapy and he should have stuck to it (or at the least being a tenured professor!)...but alas, he did not have any "WHY" to go on. Found it all pointless and futile.
Suicide at 46. Sad, but not entirely unexpec ted.

If he feels this way about vacations, imagine what he thinks about bad stuff.
Little wonder this man committed suicide.
