Hideo Kojima stated that the gekko sound like cows and cicada (a bug that makes that annoying sound in the summertime) because it's meant to psychologically throw resistance members off and make them think about summertime. They lose their edge in a fight and get owned. Kojima is a genius.

You guys are all retarded. Who cares about that lame fight scene between Vamp and Raiden?? It's much more exciting to blast those self-destruct Gekko with a fully charged Rail Gun shot anyway. And the guy who's playing this kinda sucks.
