... there is more picking up drunks, running around after hoax callers and 'nan downs' (except we're not allowed to use that term anymore =[ ). About the third manning, in my service you have to be 18 and it's not open to members of the public, you have to be in the EMS career field to start out, however if you really wanted a ride, most of my colleagues would take you, we often do to people who want to be a paramedic when they're older, except the crap-management don't know all the details! x

I work for the South Central Ambulance Service and the management are also crap!! It seems to be the norm! The three year training course is a good idea nowadays because EMTs are on their way out and uni courses are in, personally I don't think that the uni courses are as good as the standard entry route because, in my experience the paramedics I have worked with don't have enough people skills or personal experience needed, but they soon learn! Just to warn you though, it's not like casualty;..
