Because he's not explaining the most complicated parts of music theory does not mean he's simple, and it also does not mean that what he's doing is bad. This kind of playing sounds much better than any of the most advanced jazz fusion.

kraz us a fantastic guitar and plays complicated jazz composition. He is dumbing it down for few reasons, the context, "you the public watching this" and he is obviously a bit "buzzed". He is a Berkley product that played, soul, funk, classical, you name it etc.. and especially fusion jazz. He would shame most of you amateur "guitar majors". so before criticizing go listen to his earlier jazz work and you might learn something

This guy has a very typical kind of phrasing. It doesn't swing very much either.
