TKO is when the ref thinks the guy cant fight any longer or when he thinks the fighter will get hurt badly. Though Ali was the underdog in this fight he still prevailed.

Ali had 23 TKO's and 12 KO's on his record, (and TKO's are NOT KO's you stupid bastard) and i've seen the Cleveland Williams fight that all the Ali fans go on about several times, and they all forget to mention that Williams was only a shell of his former self. Plus he'd been shot in the stomach by a state trooper, so YOU get you're facts right, because you don't even OWN a brain.

Bottom line- first fight legit, Sonny quit (injury due to repeated misses on big swings, plus frustration/humiliation)...Clay/Ali shocks himself and the world with superior speed and tactics.
Rematch- We was robbed, by the Mob...
All were denied the spectacle of an all-time classic war, which Ali-Liston II should have been.
Anyone who has seen Liston's prior fights where he walked right through big league power hitters like Cleveland Williams, Eddie Machen etc knows the rematch was a dive.

Did Ali land a punch? Certainly. Was it a punch that could floor Liston? Maybe. Was it a punch to knock out Liston? I seriously doubt it.
The mob probably wanted to recoup their losses from the first fight (not fixed) and as they couldn't make sure Liston won, they made sure that he lost. Liston possibly went on the drugs to ease the sting to his pride (remember Pulp Fiction?), maybe to lessen his guilt, maybe make him just feel better about the whole thing.
Just my opinion/theory.That's all.

Go see 'When We Were Kings' and note Ali's reaction re this fight. He seems to wryly suspect something was up with Liston.
None of this fiasco was actually Ali's fault, but if this rematch had been truly legit probably it would have been
Ali wins UD15.
...unless Sonny caught him with a left hook ala Frazier or 'enry Cooper.
Liston was in the best shape of his career but the fight was delayed for months...it seems in the interim he made a deal with the devil(his mob bosses)and took a dive.

Be serious! They didnt have money like that back then.
radio187 (August 25, 2008 at 5:25 am)
Sonny Liston was too ugly to be the heavyweight champ. The heavyweight champ should be pretty.
GGE47 (August 24, 2008 at 9:40 pm)
If Liston was hurt so bad,why wasn't he hit again after getting back up.He ducked everything Ali threw at him.Ali never could knock anybody out with one punch. Also Jersey Joe Walcot, the referee, never counted him out.He couldn't get Ali in a nuetral corner. He had to be told he counted Liston out.I wonder how Sonny spent his money, that is extra money.

An Ali hater I see.
Muhammed Ali revoutionised the sport of boxing athletically with his size, speed, agility and skill. He also revoutionised the pay scale not just in boxing but probaly in Sports generally. He made the sport global by fighting in placs most Americans had never heard of like the Phillipines and the Congo. The greatest thing that ever happened to the Sport and HE made multi millionaires out of Joe Frazier, George Foreman and others.
