90 viper got it right. america sends a ton over seas. and if u consider we've fought sadaam, osama and the viet cong, we have basically fought the devil in every modern war. and u try going in a war zone and prevent all civilian casualties. almost imposible probly. bomb a house of terrorists and kid 100 yards away hit by shrapnel. a car runs a check point, shoot it up, could b civilians, could b a car bombing bastard.

I think this whole scene really says a lot about the nature of film itself, and war films. From farther back it's all badass, Ride of the Valkeryies(sp?) helicopters and explosions, like knocking down army men. But get on the ground up close it's much more horrible, soldiers screaming with massive injuries, civilians dead, napalm ect. It says something about the concept of war to a film audience and when it's no longer possible to make war look sexy.
