This man can play! I've been listening to him since the mid '70s. SRV didn't start playing much lead until 10 years later. RF was much influenced by Mike Bloomfield. Both of their lead phrasing and soul is very similar. I hate to compare guitar players much but it behooves me to no end when I see poorly done videos of Hendrix on Youtube and then see something like this! I know I will piss many people off but this is guitar playing at its best.

Imho, you shouldn't be comparing players and rating them. But, come on. John Mayer isn't a first rate blues player. Robben Ford is probably of the two three best guitar players, when it comes to Phrasing, in the world. John Mayer has got a long road ahead of him, and it'll be cool to see where he winds up. Robben is already there.

A good player, but I never cared much for the way he interpreted and arranged tunes.
