All around the west (where the cleanest hospitals exist the best doctors are known to be), even women who have longer hair R asked to tie up their hair, pull it back, AWAY from being able to touch other items, to cover with a net in the OR for safety and health reasons. Then they dispose of these covers. So even HAIR is not supposed to be bulked and all over the place, why should niqab be allowed to have that when ur hair cant? its the same concept. And anyways, niqab is not wajib.

Honestly ppl B4 u throw a bunch of thumbs down on Muslims like ME who R in support of this rule, think logically rather than emotionally. Asking nurses/docs 2 wear clothing that is not bulked/draggedy in the hospital, esp the OR, is BEST FOR HEALTH AND THE PATIETNS' HEALTH. Docs cover themselves w/ covers that they immediately dispose of after finishing the operation - so that does not compare w/ the 'covering cleanliness of niqab' theory. They're not asking for anything extreme or bad here.

becuz they(doctors) take those masks off and throw them in the garbage after their operation is done. if ur wearing a regular old niqab to work ur not takin it off after the operation to throw away hon.

Yeah but believe it or not people wash hijabs and niqabs like they do their shirts or lab coats (most likely more often than they wash lab coats). Plus doctors wear scrubs in surgery and in saudi they made scrubs for hijabis and niqabis so they ARE sanitary. Seriously when ppl want to discriminate they will find a way.

People don't wash ties! In Ireland there were Saudi female doctors who insisted they wore their hijabs during operations...........HIGHLY UNHYGIENIC as everyone who goes into a theatre has to change their clothing. I know as I was a cleaner and I had to put on the disposable shoes and hair net and wear the gowns.

I still don't understand how the bacteria is on a tie or a niqab and not on a lab coat or a shirt sleeve? It just seems like its an excuse...they could make niqabs for doctors like they do in saudi...they have special niqabs for women doctors. OR just let the women wear surgical masks.
