If you are an Indonesian student, chances are that you have been not been told. Actually a very large part of the "communists" were just uneducated farmers and workers. These persons had joined PKI because they were told that if they were organised, their living standard would improve. They would not know the difference between Mao and Santa Claus. so actually if there wasn't any useless tension between capitalist and communist, this Gesato wouldn't be happened at all, and being communist wont be so "scary" or "evil" like in our mind, because it hasn't any mistakes at all. Suharto did kill his war colleagues in order to take charge. so I guess our history book is a propaganda fake, so are our old mindsets. I wonder if schools are getting to change it.
