It is in Ukraine. But from what I have heard- and I might have to corroborate this- the boundaries of pre WW2 Hungary were larger than they are now.

From the Chanuka Menorah lighting of Munkach Grand Rabbi at the main synagogue in Brooklyn.
Grandfather of current grand rabbi was respected world-wide as a leader of Jewish community prior to WWII. "Munkatch" is Yiddish pronunciation of the name for that city. "Munkachevo" in Hungarian. The contemporary Jewish community in Munkacho benefits from the guidance and support of the current grand rabbi, along with periodic visits in person.
